Dent Repair near Agincourt

The lots that make the dents

Agincourt’s dents come from a short list of parking lots. Agincourt Mall’s lot is busy from the moment the supermarket opens, and its stalls were painted for cars a foot narrower than what parks there now. The plazas around the Dragon Centre corner at Sheppard and Glen Watford are tighter still, with cars nosing in and out while the next one waits, and the supermarket lots on Midland fill with carts that drift downhill on their own. Each one produces the same injury: a round, shallow ding on a door or a quarter panel, usually about the size of a fist, with the paint intact.

Weekends bring a second wave from the church and community-centre lots — cars parked in rows two deep, doors swinging open into the next car while a family unloads. And the driveways do their part: a bike, a hockey bag or a garbage bin against a fender leaves the same kind of soft dent as a door edge does.

Pushed out from behind, or filled and painted

When the paint is unbroken, the dent is worked from the back of the panel with steel rods and levers, a few millimetres at a time, under a light that shows every ripple in the reflection. The metal remembers its shape and returns to it. Nothing is sanded, nothing is painted, and the factory finish stays on the car — which is the outcome everybody wants and the one we go for first. Most fist-sized plaza dings from Agincourt Mall qualify.

A crease, a dent on a sharp body line, or one where the paint has cracked or chipped is a different job. The low spot is pulled up as far as the metal allows, filled and blocked flat, then primed, painted and blended into the surrounding panel. That version takes longer, costs more and has a warranty on the paint for life. We tell you from your photos which one your dent is; the giveaway is usually whether the light moving across the dent shows a cracked line in the paint at its centre.

  • Paintless removal wherever the paint is intact
  • Creases and cracked paint filled, refinished and blended
  • Priced from your pictures before you drive anywhere
  • Aluminum hoods and doors handled with the right tools

One plaza ding rarely beats the deductible; a hailed roof does

A single door ding is usually a pay-it-yourself repair. A collision claim on your own policy carries your deductible, and for a small paintless job the deductible is often close to or above the cost, so the claim gains you little and stays on your record. Where a claim makes sense is the bigger event — hail across the roof and hood, or a dent that turns out to be attached to a cracked bumper.

If somebody hit your parked car in a lot and drove off, take photos where it sits, note the time and the nearest camera, and report it to police. Then send us the photos and we look at what the numbers are before you decide. Our estimator will say plainly when a claim is not worth it. And if the dent is on a car parked in Agincourt while the owner is out of the country — it happens — we can start the estimate from photos a family member sends.

Questions people ask

My car sat at Agincourt GO all day and came back with a creased quarter panel. Police matter or insurance matter?

Both, in a small way. A parked car struck by a driver who left is claimed under your own collision coverage, rated not-at-fault, and it needs a report — at a Collision Reporting Centre within 24 hours if the damage looks like it passes the provincial reporting threshold. For one crease the deductible often outruns the repair cost, so send us photos first and we give you both numbers before you decide.

Will paintless dent removal work on my aluminum hood?

Often, though aluminum behaves differently from steel — it is softer, but it has little memory and does not want to return to shape, and metal worked twice hardens and can crack. So the passes are smaller and slower. Send a photo with the light reflecting across the dent and we can say from that whether it is a paintless job.

How long does a paintless dent take?

A single plaza ding is often done while you wait, or within the day. Several dents, or a dent near a body line, can take longer. If the repair needs paint, plan on a few days for prep, colour and cure.
