Auto Body Painting for Agincourt

Paint for a car that has been looked after

The Agincourt painting job is rarely a new car. It is a twelve-year-old sedan that has been hand-washed every Sunday, garaged when there was room, and driven carefully — and now has a scraped door from the Agincourt Mall lot, or a hood that has gone chalky because for a decade it faced south in a driveway off Brimley. The owner does not want it painted. They want it painted so nobody can tell.

That changes the work. A colour code tells us what the car was when it left the factory; it does not tell us what fifteen summers on a Sheppard driveway have done to it. So the mix is tinted against a spray-out card held next to your actual paint, in daylight, until the two read as one. Silver and white pearl — the two most common colours on this side of Kennedy — are the fussiest, because their flake sits differently depending on the angle of the gun, and a panel sprayed alone will show at the edge no matter how close the tint is.

How a panel is refinished here

The panel is stripped back to sound material, any filler is shaped and blocked, and primer is applied and sanded flat before any colour goes on. Trim, handles and lights come off rather than being masked around, so there is no hard line hiding under a rubber seal. Colour is applied in the booth, then extended into the neighbouring panel — a fender if it is a door, the door if it is a quarter — and the clear coat is laid across the whole blended area so the gloss is continuous.

For a faded roof or hood the approach is different: the whole panel is refinished edge to edge and the adjacent pillars or fenders are blended to meet it. We will tell you from the photos which of the two your car needs. Once cured, the new finish can be washed straight away; wait a few weeks before waxing or polishing so the clear coat can finish hardening. The refinish is covered for as long as you own the car.

Dropping off from Agincourt

Paint work has a fixed rhythm — prep one day, colour and clear the next, cure and reassembly after — so the car is usually with us for several days rather than an afternoon. Most Agincourt customers drop it on the way to work westbound on Sheppard, or pair the drop-off with a trip to Fairview Mall, which is next door. If the paint is part of an insurance claim, the rental through your coverage starts that morning; if you are paying yourself, we can often book the car so it is out before the weekend.

Send photos first — and for paint, include one in direct sun from a low angle, because it shows the fade and the flake better than any shot in the shade. Our estimator reads them, prices the work in writing, and says plainly whether the panel needs the full refinish or whether a polish will get you there.

Questions people ask

The bumper is plastic and the fender is steel. Will the same silver read the same on both?

Not automatically, which is why bumper covers are usually painted complete as a part, and why on silvers and pearls the neighbouring fender or quarter is blended — plastic takes colour a little differently from metal, and the blend keeps that texture difference from reading as a colour step. On a solid colour the difference is smaller, and we tell you from the photos what your car needs.

Will a repainted door affect my car’s value when I sell it?

A properly blended, warrantied refinish is not something a buyer or a UVIP will flag; a bad one is. We photograph the work at every stage and give you a written record of the repair, which is the paperwork a careful buyer actually wants to see.

Can you paint just the scratched section instead of the whole door?

Sometimes. If the scratch is inside the panel and the paint around it is sound, a spot repair blended within the door can work. If it runs to an edge, or the paint is faded, the whole panel gets refinished. We decide from the photos and tell you which, and why.
