What comes to us from Scarborough is older, well-kept metal that has taken many winters of salt on McCowan and Kennedy, plaza-lot dings from the Town Centre and the Markham Road strips, windrow corners off the bungalow streets, and the working bumpers of taxis and delivery vans. Ontario lets you pick the shop regardless of the list your insurance company reads out. Our estimator reads the photos, writes the estimate and runs the claim from our office, so one drive down Sheppard is the whole errand. The counter works in English and Mandarin.
Sheppard Avenue East is the same road at McCowan as it is at our door
Scarborough is big enough that we split it up. Agincourt, Malvern, Wexford, Milliken and West Hill each have their own page; this one covers the middle and the south — the Town Centre, the McCowan and 401 corridor, Bendale, Thomson Park, Cliffside and the streets that run down to the Bluffs. From all of it the simplest way in needs no highway. Stay on Sheppard Avenue East westbound through Kennedy, Warden and Victoria Park, cross over the 404, and the shop is on your right before the Don Mills light, with Fairview Mall on the same block. Nothing to merge into, nothing to exit from.
The 401 is quicker when it behaves. Westbound from McCowan or Kennedy, stay in the collectors past Warden and Victoria Park, take the 404 north, and get off at Sheppard — it is the first exit. Turn west at the top of the ramp; the mall is on your right and we are just past it. There is no Don Mills exit from the 401, so do not go looking for one. From the south end — Kingston Road, Cliffside, Cliffcrest — Brimley or McCowan takes you north to the 401, or Midland and Birchmount take you north to Sheppard on the days a stall at Kennedy has the collectors stopped. Plan on about 12 to 20 minutes either way.
What a Cliffside winter and a Markham Road plaza do to a car
The lots do most of the small work. Scarborough Town Centre, Kennedy Commons, the plaza strips along Markham Road and Ellesmere, and the big-box aprons around McCowan and the 401 supply door dings, cart dents and reversing taps all year. The post-war bungalow streets off Lawrence, Eglinton and Brimley add the winter version: plows leave a windrow across every short driveway, and the cars that push through it collect scraped corners and cracked bumper covers. Down toward the Bluffs the hill on Brimley to Bluffer’s Park ices early, and Kingston Road’s wide lanes bring sideswipes and curb hits at the plaza entrances.
Then there is the age of the cars. A lot of Scarborough drives something bought new a long time ago and looked after, which means rockers, rear arches and door bottoms that have taken more salt than the paint was designed for. Taxis, rideshare cars and delivery vans cover heavy mileage on the same roads, so their bumpers and rear doors come to us more often than a family sedan’s would, and their owners cannot spare the vehicle for long.
How a working car from Scarborough is booked differently
A taxi or a van is scheduled backwards from the day it has to be earning again. Photos come first, the parts are ordered before the vehicle arrives, and the drop-off is booked for the morning the parts land, so the car is in the booth rather than in the lot. For a family car the same order applies with less urgency: three photos bring a written estimate the same business day, and a rental through your coverage is timed to the drop-off when the work is a claim.
If another driver caused the damage, your own insurance company pays for your car under Ontario’s DCPD rules and the choice of shop stays yours — a name on their list is a suggestion. We open the claim and deal with the adjuster from here. On language: the counter runs in English and Mandarin. Scarborough is also Tamil, Tagalog, Cantonese and a dozen other languages, and we do not pretend to speak them all. Bring whoever in the household handles the paperwork, and the estimate is written line by line so it can be read to anyone.

Scarborough questions
I was hit at Kennedy and Sheppard. Is that your Agincourt page or this one, and does it matter?
It does not matter. The pages are split by neighbourhood so the directions and the local details fit, and the shop behind them is the same one: our estimator reads your photos and writes the estimate whichever page you found. From Kennedy and Sheppard, stay westbound on Sheppard and you are here without a turn.
Is there a way in from the Bluffs that avoids the 401 completely?
Yes. From Kingston Road take Midland or Birchmount north all the way to Sheppard, then turn west and stay on it over the 404. It is slower than the highway on a clear afternoon and faster on the mornings a stall at Kennedy has the collectors stopped. Brimley works too; it crosses the 401 and keeps going north to Sheppard.
The car will not drive after a hit in the 401 collectors at McCowan. Where should it go?
Wherever you name. Ontario’s towing rules put the destination in your hands and require an itemized invoice, so tell the operator 1800 Sheppard Avenue East, beside Fairview Mall, or call us and we coordinate the tow from our side. If anyone is hurt, 911 from the scene comes before anything else. If nobody is and the damage is clearly serious, the nearest Collision Reporting Centre takes the report first and the car carries on to us afterward.
